About the Author

IN MY SMALL CORNER AUTHOR BIO Name: Valerie Simpson Age: 74 years DETAILS: This is my first submission as an author. I have always been interest in writing but it has taken me until the ripe old age of 74 years to bolster my self confidence to actually submit any work. As recorded in my story I was born in an industrial town - Jarrow - in Tyneside, England two years prior to the outbreak of World War II. After marriage in 1962, my husband and I had great doubts concerning the religion which we were born into and began to read extensively about religion. This drew us to Judaism and in 1986 after a long conversion process we were converted to Judaism by the London Beth Din. I am married, with two children, and live in Edinburgh, Scotland. I have several hobbies - stained glass artwork, doors and windows; lawn bowls; Bridge; and my writing. I began to take my writing seriously when a friend read my account of the conversion of my husband and myself which I had only written for my children. I now attend local writing courses which give me much pleasure.
